Today, we have a prime example of DIY guitar customization gone wrong : an Ibanez guitar with a Stratocaster-inspired headstock. Brace yourselves, folks, because this one is a doozy.

Let’s take a moment to appreciate the sheer audacity behind this creation. Someone, somewhere, looked at their trusty Ibanez guitar and thought, “You know what this needs? A headstock transplant.” And just like that, the unholy alliance between an Ibanez guitar and a Stratocaster-ish Music Man-esque headstock was born.

Disclaimer: An Ibanez guitar was harmed but not in the making of this blog post. The delicate sensibilities of some guitar purists may be slightly bruised by the picture above. Source

Now, I’m no expert on surgical procedures on guitar – yes, lutherie that’s what it is – but I’m fairly certain this operation was performed without the proper tools or training. The result is a headstock that can only be described as crude and unrefined. It’s like watching a butcher attempt brain surgery with a butter knife.

The shape itself is a sight to behold. Imagine taking the sleek, streamlined elegance of an Ibanez headstock and attempting to morph it into the classic Stratocaster shape. Well, a Strat shape with a Music Man twist because of the 4×2 configuration.

I can’t help but wonder what tools were used in this grand endeavor. Was it a chainsaw? A rusty handsaw found in the depths of a long-forgotten toolbox? Or perhaps just a pair of scissors? Or maybe teeth ? It’s a mystery that will forever remain unsolved.

But hey, let’s not be too quick to judge. After all, the beauty of the guitar world lies in its diversity and individuality. Maybe this Frankensteined headstock is a bold statement, a rebellious act against conformity. Or maybe, just maybe, it’s a cry for help from someone desperately seeking attention in the world of guitar enthusiasts.

As I sit here, contemplating this Ibanez-Stratocaster headstock monstrosity, I can’t help but admire the sheer audacity of the individual behind this creation. They dared to push the boundaries of what is considered acceptable in the world of guitar aesthetics. So, let this be a lesson to all aspiring guitar customizers out there. Embrace your quirks, embrace your eccentricities, but please, for the love of music, embrace some basic woodworking skills while you’re at it.

Sometimes, the line between genius and madness is as thin as a poorly executed headstock modification.
